- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Coat an 8-inch (20-cm) square pan with cooking spray.
- Add flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt to the prepared pan and whisk until combined.
- Add oil, applesauce, vinegar, vanilla and Silk and mix until combined.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until top springs back and a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool completely.
- To serve, cut into 9 squares and dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
